◯ About UGUISU Blue Scales Oneness
"Hohokekyo"
The Japanese bush warbler is also known by other names such as the spring herald bird, the flower-viewing bird, the songbird, and the sutra-reading bird.
If you listen carefully to their cries, you will be amazed at their beauty.
This bird, which often appears in the Kokin Wakashū, has supported Japan's elegant culture through its sounds since ancient times.
Following the example of their crystal clear cries, I would like the tools we use to drink water to have the same dignified "transparency."
———With this idea in mind, "UGUISU" was conceived.
Surprisingly, there are not many ceramics suitable for drinking cold things.
When we think of cups or glasses, we imagine something made of glass, and when we think of teacups, we think of ceramic cups for drinking hot things.
I think that cups and sake cups are tools for drinking alcohol, like sake cups.
A unique ceramic vessel for cold drinks.
It was born here and now.
"Sorin" is fired with "crystalline glaze", a specialty of the potter Touan, which gives each piece a unique scale pattern.
The beautiful shine of the blue dragon's scales and the dull, rustic color of the copper give it the air of being something that stands the test of time for a thousand years.
Only God knows what it will look like.
———Spontaneous beauty with infinite possibilities that humans cannot control.

About Touan, the Kyoto-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery manufacturer
Since its founding in 1922 at Sennyuji Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto, the Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki kiln manufacturer "Touan" has continued to use high-quality raw materials and create works by skilled craftsmen, which have earned it a high reputation for their quality and creativity.
While inheriting the traditions of Kyoto ware from Nonomura Ninsei and Ogata Kenzan, he is constantly working on technological innovation.
"UGUISU" was planned and designed by QUTOTEN. and produced after repeated consultations with the fourth-generation head of the family, Yoshiaki Dobuchi, about the development of glazes and the selection of soil.
