We have appointed the world-famous human beatboxer "SHOW-GO" as our key visual, and have decided to sell our first new tableware lineup, the new models "JIKON" and "UGUISU".
QUTOTEN. has been producing and selling flower pots for bonsai and tuberous plants, but the new model "JIKON" that has been decided to be sold this time is a teacup, and "UGUISU" is a water cup (ceramic tumbler), which will be the first tableware lineup product. Advance sales will begin at the special exhibition "Exhibition 2024 "Tanabata no Komyo", hosted by "QUTOTEN." from July 5th to July 7th at Komyoin, a subtemple of Tofukuji Temple, a Zen temple in Kyoto.
・About the teacup "JIKON"
"Ikon" means "living in the present."
Live this moment to the fullest without being tied down to the past or the future.
Easier said than done.
Today's society is full of noise, but why not take a moment to forget the hustle and bustle of the world while drinking tea?
The taste of tea, its infinite resolution, is a realm that cannot be reached no matter how much technology advances.
The deliciousness is not felt in the past or the future, but in the present moment.
The concept of "JIKON" is "a teacup to hold with both hands and drink from" - just for a cup of tea that will connect you to the present.
・About the Mizunomi "UGUISU"
"Hohokekyo"
The Japanese bush warbler is also known by other names such as the spring herald bird, the flower-viewing bird, the songbird, and the sutra-reading bird.
If you listen carefully to their cries, you will be amazed at their beauty.
This bird, which often appears in the Kokin Wakashū, has supported Japan's elegant culture through its sounds since ancient times.
In imitation of the crystal clear sound of the nightingale's cry, we wanted the tool we use to drink water to have the same dignified "transparency" - from that idea came the conception of "UGUISU".
Surprisingly, there are not many ceramics suitable for drinking cold things.
When we think of cups or glasses, we imagine something made of glass, and when we think of teacups, we think of ceramic cups for drinking hot things.
I think that cups and sake cups are tools for drinking alcohol, like sake cups.
A unique ceramic vessel for cold drinks.
It was born here and now.
・About the world-famous human beatboxer "SHOW-GO"
SHOW-GO is a world-renowned artist and human beatboxer originally from Hokkaido and currently based in Kyoto.
This new lineup is the most "everyday" product to date, and is inspired by the image of SHOW-GO, who lives his days lightly even in this noisy world.
In our busy everyday lives, even the time to have a cup of tea can get overwhelming.
In keeping with the concept of "a teacup to be held with both hands," "JIKON" is intentionally designed to be difficult to hold with one hand.
Therefore, the design is intended to naturally encourage the action of "holding it with both hands," which should then lead to returning your thoughts to the "present moment" and regulating your breathing.
The richness of your life can change dramatically depending on your tools, your way of thinking, and your perception of them.
Even though it was a photo shoot, the sight of SHOW-GO holding ``JIKON'' and ``UGUISU'' gave off a somewhat everyday vibe.
We hope that by using "JIKON" and "UGUISU", you will be able to create more space in your daily life.
